During June, TX-7 members and Loyal Escorts were led by member, Dr. LaShondra Jones, in a Senior Activity bag project. This project was to support 160 veterans in the Gulf Coast region that reside in at least 42 separate senior living centers. Our chapter collected donations to fill bags with puzzles, coloring books, crayons, and more for our veterans. In addition to the items purchased or donated, the chapter also provided cards and treats to the veterans and their care providers. The veterans and care providers thoroughly enjoyed the act of kindness! You can coordinate with the social workers through the VA hospital if you too would like to donate to our veterans!
The week before Easter, we were informed that donations were way down at Camp Hope Houston. They are a resident PTSD program for combat veterans through PTSDUSA.org. We had served them a BBQ meal previously and had budgeted for one meal each quarter this year. We decided to use the money earmarked for the quarterly meal for a donation of food since we could not do the meal due to the quarantine. What we planned to do once or twice has turned into10 deliveries so far. Many of our members donated their own money and we’ve had many generous monetary donations and some food donations from friends of TX-7. The warriors at Camp Hope are so gracious and appreciative every time we deliver. It has been a great project to have during COVID-19! We still have funding to continue for a few more weeks and new donations still coming in.
Deliveries to senior centers continue with the support of our members and their family members! Thanks Luong family for the loving support as well as continued donations!
