opened her home to these fabulous women Marines! The group worked 8 hours to prepare flowers, gift bags, cards, etc for the women patients at Michael E Debakey VA Medical Center in Houston. What a selfless way to spend the day! OOH RAH Lady Leathernecks! Thank you for your hard work!
Deliveries to senior centers continue with the support of our members and their family members! Thanks Luong family for the loving support as well as continued donations!
The week before Easter, we were informed that donations were way down at Camp Hope Houston. They are a resident PTSD program for combat veterans through PTSDUSA.org. We had served them a BBQ meal previously and had budgeted for one meal each quarter this year. We decided to use the money earmarked for the quarterly meal for a donation of food since we could not do the meal due to the quarantine. Many of our members donated their own money and we’ve had many generous monetary donations and some food donations from friends of TX-7. On September 9, 2020, the Vice President of the Women Marine Association Texas 7 Opha May Johnson Chapter, Heather Brodersen and her daughter, Theresa, made a final grocery delivery to the resIdents at Camp Hope. This project was originally planned to be a once or twice drop off event. Well, this was the 24th drop off. WMA TX7 members and the community of donors hope that the veterans in the Camp Hope program know just how important they are to our world! We will see you soon as our chapter plans it’s next dinner service at Camp Hope! We are looking forward to some fellowship with our veteran brothers! Semper Fidelis!
On September 12, 2020, the TX-7 Chapter had the privilege of working on a Habitat for Humanity Veterans Day build out. We learned much about the Habitat for Humanity program and how it also serves to help veterans that need a home! Please take time to visit their website and see how you or someone you know could benefit from their services! Special thanks to Veteran Energy for sponsoring the build out and for the most generous donation to our chapter!
